Fractional CFO
Senior finance leadership, at the cadence your decisions need
Every industry hides its profit in a different place. Find the fractional CFO support built around how your business actually makes and keeps money.
What a fractional CFO actually is
A fractional CFO is a senior finance leader working with your business part time, at the cadence your decisions actually require. The work is the same work a full-time CFO does: cash flow forecasting, pricing and margin analysis, budgeting, board and lender reporting, financing preparation, and the judgement calls that sit between all of them.
It exists because the gap between a bookkeeper and a full-time CFO is enormous. A bookkeeper records what happened and closes the month accurately. A full-time CFO in Canada carries a salary, bonus, benefits and often equity, which most businesses under roughly ten million in revenue cannot justify. In between sits every owner making six-figure decisions on numbers nobody has interrogated.
The trigger is rarely revenue on its own. It is usually a specific event: a raise or a lender who wants a model that survives scrutiny, a pricing decision that will set the margin ceiling for years, a cash squeeze that a profitable quarter cannot explain, or a hiring plan nobody has costed properly.
Where it sits next to what you already have
Bookkeeping
Your bookkeeper keeps the ledger accurate and closes each month. A fractional CFO reads what they produce and decides what to do about it. Both roles run at the same time.
Tax and compliance
Your accountant handles filings, year end and tax planning, looking primarily backward at what already happened. A fractional CFO looks forward at what to do next. The two work alongside each other.
A software subscription
Dashboards report numbers. They do not decide whether your pricing holds, whether the next five hires are affordable, or what a lender will attack in your forecast. Every engagement here does come with a live dashboard, and the dashboard is the delivery mechanism rather than the service.
